About Dr. Thomas
Throughout her career as a licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Thomas has promoted health and wellness by combining clinical practice, consultation, teaching, research, and coaching in medical center and academic settings as well as in private practice.
Her interests in behavioral medicine were developed in graduate school at the University of Virginia and on internship at the Medical College of Virginia during training experiences in the pre-surgical psychological evaluation of organ transplant patients, chronic pain management, and assessment and therapy with patients with a variety of medical conditions, such as cancer and HIV/AIDS.
She has been in private practice since 2002 and has been conducting psychological evaluations for bariatric surgery candidates since 2004. Currently, she is also an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at Howard University, where she co-founded the Health Promotion and Risk Reduction Research Center (HealthPARC) with Denee Mwendwa, Ph.D.
